A back-to-back plate of icebergs. One side has a huge iceberg, observed in March 1874 off the coast of Greenland by a German North Pole expedition, while the other side has bergy bits (yes, that really is the term), i.e., small iceberg bits. The two sides of the print are shown in photos 3 and 4.
Printed in Germany in 1898. It is in very good condition.
As with all the plates and prints from this book, the illustrations are razor-sharp and well-defined. The plate has a nice patina.
