I had a nasty experience with a table once. It was one of those cheap, plastic-topped jobs with the folding metal legs you lock in place with a little sliding clip on the struts. It was weighted down with materials to be stuffed in binders (I was assembling course readers; I know, the perils of academia!), and one side suddenly came crashing down, not two inches from my foot. Apparently the strut wasn't quite locked. Now, if the school had been using the Strut Table from Blu Dot, instead of that awful collapsible thing, not only would this almost-disaster (and potential OSHA claim) have been completely averted, but they would have been right on the front lines of taste. (And the 90" model would have been more than long enough for the purpose.) Strut: stylish, quite functional, and substantially less likely to maim you than other tables. The 75" Strut table seats six; the 90" seats eight. The 56" Strut seats four, making it just right for smaller dining rooms or a student desk.
