Christofle of Paris Important and Early Antique Silver Plated Ladle, France
An important and early Christofle & Cie. of Paris silverplated ladle from the first year of the form's introduction in 1862. The ladle is an example of Christofle's Chinon pattern (still in production today) but its double C mark with the number "84" was used for only a short time between 1844 and 1862. Marks impressed on reverse: Christofle's double C mark with scales, four stars and the number "84" inside first cartouche, the number "93" inside the second and 'CHRISTOFLE" inside the third. Very good condition with some silver loss on reverse of bowl and a few shallow scratches, measuring 13 1/4" (34.3 cm) L.
