Italian-Made Cocktail Set

On a trip to Strasbourg, the product designer of this Italian-made cocktail set went to a Brazilian bar and met a master mojito maker. They discussed the ultimate tools for preparing cocktails, namely the mojito: It had to be heavy to break the ice by hand and have sharp teeth to shred the lime and sugar cane but only bruise the mint, gently releasing its essential oils. The cylindrical end of the muddler had to be just the right length for reaching the bottom of a highball glass. Inspired by the exchange, the designer started working on a prototype that was faithful to the mixologist’s specifications, then added a paring knife to complete the set.

The aluminum muddler is polished by hand. The paring knife is made of stainless steel, with a serrated edge designed specially for slicing limes without tearing the fruit’s delicate fibers. The Tuscan olive wood handle features stainless steel rivets to prevent oxidation.

Hand wash in warm water and dry thoroughly immediately after cleaning. To preserve the stainless steel knife blade, store in its cardboard box along with muddler.

Made in Maniago, Italy, this cocktail set comes from a company founded in 1912 that originally specialized in farming tools. In 1952, after four generations of tool making, the company decided to hone their focus and concentrate on knives for the home kitchen and professional butchery. Since then, it continues to innovate. Recent additions to the collection include knives fitted with “paperstone” handles made of post-consumer waste paper and recycled cardboard “booklet” boxes to replace the bulky knife stand and messy knife drawer.
