This vest is cotton, white ground with a quilted or trapunto affect in the weave. the floral detail is a raised oval section throughout, with no stitching interrupting the medallions. The weave lends a touch of 17th -18th Century to the finish of the vest, although it is certainly made after 1860 becasue there is machine stitching incorporated into the construction. Note the tiny eyelet carefully sewn with a buttonhole stitch, one on either side of the interior...
