Menorah - A+R Store

There is an honesty and heft to cast iron, which is why Josh Owen, whose approach to design is always humanistic, used it to craft this important ceremonial candelabrum. To the Pennsylvania-based prolific and decorated industrial designer, the solidity of the material suggests a trusted tool found on a family farm. With age, the patina from continual use means it will only grow more beautiful. Josh also kept function in mind with an incorporated plate to collect wax drippings while also providing a safe depository for hot matches. Josh is the son of an archaeologist, so spent many of his boyhood summers on excavations in the Middle East. He went on to earn degrees in sculpture and visual studies from Cornell University and an MFA in Furniture Design from the Rhode Island School of Design. He also studied at Tel Aviv University and Cornell University's program in Rome. In 1998, he opened his studio in Philadelphia, teaching at the university there and producing furnishings, lighting and products for companies worldwide. His monograph "Josh Owen: Big Ideas/Small Packages" was published by Woodsphere.
