The works of western American artist, Minerva Teichert, have received increasingly popular and critical acclaim in recent years. From her modest home in Wyoming, Teichert produced a prolific number of paintings that celebrate the saga of western settlement and the heritage of her Mormon faith. Today, Teichert is beloved among the LDS community as a woman who successfully combined faith and family and left an extraordinary legacy of artistic production. Teichert's painting of Mormon pioneers portrays them seeking divine intervention to save their crops from destruction by crickets. Her heritage as a descendant of faithful pioneer women inspired her to depict a woman as a symbol of the pioneers' devotion.
