A 2000 year old European tradition is revived in the drop ceramic money bank or money pot. The sweet and simple but modern design is based on the idea of falling. It was created by young Lisbon-based designer Rita Botelho, who likes to derive pieces from common shapes, but always adds a witty little twist to the underlying concept. For this object, the idea is gravity. Name and shape communicate how to interact with the money bank. Like a shiny drop of water that gets bigger and bigger and heavier and heavier from the coins - until it falls - in the end it is meant to fall and break on the ground. Therefore the Drop money bank has to be entirely enclosed. Once you have finished dropping coins into it, you then drop the whole thing - essentially dropping the drop.
