Happy Birthday to me. Happy Birthday to me. Happy Birthday, dear Courtney. Happy Birthday to me!
So you guessed it, February is my birthday month. And my husband's. AKA time to find the best winter birthday gift ideas...times TWO. While it can be hard to find the perfect cold weather present amidst all the grey, I feel lucky that our birthdays are a great reason to celebrate, eat cake and get presents, in the midst of such dreary East Coast weather.
I grew up in California, where it rarely rained on my birthday (or at all for that matter) and I enjoyed outdoor scavenger hunt parties complete with a piñata and candy. So, in honor of our February birthdays, here's a peek at what's on our birthday wish lists because you can never have too many perfect winter birthday gift ideas.
These No.6 shearling clog ankle boots are top on my wish list this year. Yes, they are the current mom shoe of choice but there's a reason for that. They look great and are practical; warm and dare I say, comfortable. Plus, as us short girls can attest, any shoe that gives us a few extra inches, without causing a sprained ankle, is a must-have for any winter birthday.
Get it from Barney’s for $380.
Aging is brutal. As one of my hilarious friends once wrote, "even after a sober night’s sleep-I appeared savagely hungover". And my bedtime routine seems to keep getting longer and longer. I splurge on La Mer skin care because it's the best and worth every penny...especially when someone else is buying it for me as a mid-winter birthday gift. Oh, and I lather the face lotion on thick. Because there is no denying that old looks "like I have a permanent hangover".
Get it from Nordstrom for $150.
You can never go wrong with flowers as a February birthday gift idea. Unless they are ugly, and then you are in big trouble. Don't send flowers unless you a) know the florist or b) can see exactly what you are going to get. I could write a novel about which flowers are "send" worthy and which are better off unpicked. That's why I love BloomThat. Their flower arrangements are classy, gorgeous and have super fun add ons like a blue & white pitcher vase. Sugarfina candy is also a great option, or this adorbs 'The Future is Female' t-shirt. True that.
Get the Clementine flower arrangement at BloomThat for $89.
I'm obsessed with Hamilton music, just like everyone else. You don't need to have seen the musical (I haven't, hint hint) to enjoy the music, and it's a lot more affordable. After rounds and rounds on Spotify, I started eyeing this vinyl boxset. I was gifted an awesome record player at Christmas time so now I'm equipped to go old school and listen to Hamilton the musical, on vinyl.
Get the Atlantic Hamilton Original Broadway Cast Recording on Vinyl for $69.
I'm not sure why I'm so obsessed with this water bottle, but hydration is one of the few health edicts I'm following these days (Valentine's candy and cookies be damned). I think this birthday gift would make me feel like a tough bad-ass at the gym, when I'm really a nice preppy. Also, it's sorta like having spiked Louboutins, when you can't afford them or frankly pull them off without your friends laughing at you.
Get the bkr® Spiked Silicone Glass Water Bottle from Nordstrom for $40.
