Meet our guest stylist Cristina Martinez of Cautiously Obsessed! She's telling us all about her inspiration as an artist and giving us the best tips for back to school.
Tell us a little about yourself and your background.
I’m a freelance graphic designer and art director currently living and working in the Midwest. I began pursuing my career in 2013 and since then I’ve had the wonderful opportunity of working with a number of talented creatives and individuals. On my time off I’m usually reading or spending time with my husband and our two newly adopted rescue kittens.
What does a normal day look like for you (or as close to a normal day as possible)?
A normal day for me usually starts pretty early in the morning. I’m a light sleeper so I only get a few hours of sleep every night. The very first thing I do when I wake up is make some coffee and go over emails. I also like to check my Instagram and Pinterest during this time. As the day progresses I multitask by working on several different projects at a time. I do try to make time everyday to do something I enjoy that isn’t related to my work such as reading or painting.
How would you describe your personal style?
My personal style is pretty understated and casual, I honestly don’t shop for clothing very often simply because I tend to wear a variation of the same thing every day. I’m definitely a firm believer in quality over quantity when it comes to my wardrobe and I’m always paying attention to the cut and fabric of a garment.
If you had to name your favorite style icon who would it be and why?
I would have to go with Caroline de Maigret. I’ve always loved her relaxed approach to fashion and beauty.
What advice do you have for getting back to the swing of these now that summer is coming to a close (tear)?
Get organized! I’m a pretty organized person, but I do fall off the wagon sometimes, which is why I always try to re-group at the end of each season. I find that having a great planner makes a huge difference, as well a purchasing a few items for your desk or workstation that make you feel motivated. For me, I always try to buy some fresh flowers at the start of every week, they’re absolutely beautiful to look at and they make my desk/office feel more inviting.
What's your favorite part of about shopping on Keep?
Shopping on Keep feels so natural, I love that you’re able to organize the items you are interested in purchasing that way you can always reference them in the future. It’s a great way to organize those wish lists we all make.
