11 Looks From NYFW & How To Get Them For Under $100
New York Fashion Week might be over, but that means it’s time to start shopping! Lucky for you, spending $1,000 on a shirt is not necessary to get the same high-fashion style as those attending the runway shows. As Stacie Henderson told Keep at the beginning of NYFW, street style is everything in the fashion industry, and you can shop it on a #budget. So, here’s how you can dress like the best for way, way less!
One of the top runway trends coming from NYFW is the monochromatic look. Whether it’s pink, red, blue or yellow, solid colors are dominating this season’s looks. The more individual pieces used in a look like the one below, the more interesting and on-trend the outfit. Just pair Jolly Chic’s Turn-Down Collar Double Breasted Coat Solid Green with NastyGal’s Green Light Tailored Pants and H&M’s Light Green Melange Knit Sweater, and you’re good to go! You can also go all-white with our fave white pieces from Anthropologie.
All Red Everything
Head-to-toe red has graced the runways for a couple seasons now, and it seems to be sticking. In addition to Aimee Song from Song of Style pictured here outside of Ralph Lauren, influencers like Not So Blonde Blog’s Leonora Jiménez have rocked the all-red look, and we love it! This trend is all about the shine. Designers like Carolina Herrera and Esteban Cortazar sent shining red dresses down the runway, and the ultra-chic look is super easy to replicate IRL. Just grab the Missguided Red Twist Slip Dress, Modcloth’s Banned High-Shine Profile Bag in Red, and the FREYRS Fashion Designer Retro Cat Eye Sunglasses.
It’s all about accessories this week. Whether it’s a belt bag, a crazy pair of cat-eye sunglasses or a stunning shoe, you can bet that the fashionistas will be using accessories to their full advantage. And when it comes to shoes, the crazier the better. This fuchsia sock boot is definitely one way to make a statement with your feet. NastyGal’s Step by Step Sock Boot is a great way to wear this look. And paired with Boohoo’s Laura Floral Double Layer Maxi Dress and NastyGal’s Hit the Trench Vinyl Duster Coat, you have the perfect outfit!
Prints, Prints, Prints
Mixing prints can be daunting. But, the best thing about mixing together a bunch of mismatched patterns is that it’s very difficult to mess up. Bryanboy went all out with his street style this fashion week, donning an array of colors, prints and textures. An understated way to wear this look is with muted colors like in this shot of Jenny Cipoletti from Margo & Me. Charming Charlie’s Plaid Cinched Shirtdress, Missguided’s Gray Plaid Cape Blazer and Public Desire’s Jana Over the Knee Boots pair nicely without going overboard on the prints.
This season, everything is mega-sized, from fur to jackets to dress pants. Keeping it minimal, like in the photo below, is an easy, chic way to wear the oversized trend. The Billabong Stay Here Turtleneck Sweater, the Boohoo Rosie Check Wide Leg Trouser and H&M’s sneakers make for a street style-worthy oversized ensemble.
The metallic, futuristic look was all over the catwalk, from Diane von Furstenburg to Anna Sui. Extra shine is going to be around as a trend for quite some time, as Refinery29 explains. And who doesn’t want to spend the day looking like you’re literally out-of-this-world? Get this look with the Topshop Metallic Cigarette Trousers, MANGO Metallic T-Shirt, and Charming Charlie Metallic Double Hobo.
Helena Bordon and Caroline Daur stepped out looking like they won a NASCAR race earlier that morning – and they killed it! They included so many runway trends like the off-shoulder jacket, thick belt and pleather pants. You can totally rock this look too, and for less money! Just grab the AKIRA High Rise Faux Leather Lace Up Slim Fit Pant Legging, Columbia Flash Forward Windbreaker and Dorothy Perkins Black Wide Buckle Belt.
Coachella In The City
Everyone knows Coachella is one of the greatest festivals and fashion moments of the year. But why should the West Coast get to have all the fun? More and more, celebs are bringing the festival vibe to the concrete jungle like "A Wrinkle In Time" star Storm Reid and Irene Kim with major mermaid vibes, Now it’s beginning to creep into designer collections. Get the festival look with Zaful’s Zippered Faux Leather Jacket, Boohoo’s Jodie Shredded Leg Mom Jeans, Free Press’s Open Fishnet Tights, and Boohoo’s Bethany Frilled Pointed Ankle Boot.
If anyone can pull off a prom dress-esque outfit, it’s the fashionistas on the streets of NYFW. The stunning gown and casual accessories can be tough to wear, but it’s definitely doable, and the end result looks amazing! Go for a solid color like the ASOS Wedding Tulle Midi Dress, then accessorize with the H&M Pile Jacket, and Jessica Simpson Merta Lucite Booties.
The 1970s are huge right now – and we’re totally ok with it! From giant platforms and thick heels to flare pants and velvet suits, the elements of the 70s are becoming part of almost everyone’s style. In this look, the 70s boots paired with metallic silver and chains is about as high-fashion as it gets. For the same vibe, try Missguided's Silver Metallic Shearling Jacket, Boohoo Plus Jess Chain Detail Ripped Mom Jeans, and H&M Platform Boots.
It’s easy to reach for a black, brown or navy blue coat each season because those are the typical coat colors. But, as style guru Grace Lee showed us with her stunning street style this week, a colorful coat can be a game changer in any outfit. Contrasting a pop of color with a subtle hue like black (pictured) can give you the street style cred of a beauty blogger. To get this look, pair Metamorphoza’s Mustard Zipper Dress with Shoptiques’ Hera Black Bodycon Dress, and the FREYRS Designer Fashion Womens Cat Eye Sunglasses.
