How You Should Be Wearing Lace This Summer
When we think of lace, we think vintage or frilly white dresses appropriate for country club gatherings...but lace has come a long way. Lace is one of those things that is trendier at times (it was huge for Spring '11...remember that Dolce & Gabbana collection?) but is never really a trend. You can wear it in any season and your look will never be "out." Plus there's so many different styles, in every type of clothing (and accessory!), so there are endless options for mixing up your wardrobe.
We're all familiar with a little white lace dress, but if you're going to go with classic white lace try it in something unexpected like track pants or sneakers (and if you really want to take it to another level, wear them together!) And for those of us who need to keep dry in style due to excessive rain (April showers seem to be extending well into July), Topshop made a lace raincoat so that's pretty awesome.
You can also give colored lace a go, which is absolutely perfect for the season. But if bright isn't your thing, there are a ton of pastel lace options right now (especially with blush being the hot color for spring/summer). Or you could be like "hey I don't think my jewelry obsession mixes well with all lace" (which I get...you don't want to get caught and tangled in all that...I've been there). I have the perfect solution for you...
LACE TRIM. A hint of lace...why not? A lace trim dress or shorts would be the perfect option. And if that still makes you nervous and you're thinking that you're never going to get that Eddie Borgo pyramid bracelet out of your eyelet shirt, I have one last suggestion (then you're on your own) -- lace accessories are one of my favorite ways to incorporate lace, and even better? You don't have to worry about snagging! Shoes, bags and even jewelry -- the easiest ways to get your lace fix.
