Memorial Day Outfits Inspired By Models

Memorial Day Outfits Inspired By Models

Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of the season otherwise known as Outdoor Weather: drinking on patios, grilling in a friend’s backyard, eating pounds of pizza on some lucky boy’s roof. Don’t fret if you don’t have hordes of Memorial Day invitations crowding your inbox yet, because that would mean you were a famous person. Someone will totally invite us to a Memorial Day BBQ. Just wait and see. Until then, join me in dreaming of Outdoor Weather outfits, hoping desperately that it’s not all just a delusion.

1) White on white + jewels.

Alana Zimmer looks like a Free People model in this shot—or do Free People models look like Alana Zimmer? Deep questions aside, this is the easiest Memorial Day look ever. Just pile on all things white and flowy and top off with a gaggle of heavy necklaces.

2) Floral shorts + Chuck Taylors.

Make like Anja Rubik and offset those tiny floral shorts with a pair of flower-colored kicks. Tiny white socks make it sporty, not girly. Okay, not overly girly.

3) Long cardigan + floral dress + hat.

If it’s not warm enough to totally abandon the outerwear, Caroline Brasch shows us how to wear a sweater without falling into despair. Mix up graphic prints and florals and keep it all grounded with one of Grandpa’s toppers.

4) Hair chalk.

It was totally overdone last summer, but then again, we’ve had an agonizingly long winter to recover from it. Maybe it’s time to bring the old streaks back, a la Chloe Norgaard? Maybe?

5) Coachella leftovers.

Whatever you wore to Coachella—whatever you even thought about wearing to Coachella—it’s probably perfect for Memorial Day. Bring us your cut-offs, your tie-dye, your tired aviators yearning to breathe free…
