Style Inspired By Jem (And The Holograms!)
A few weeks back all of our little girl dreams came true as the announcement of a live action Jem and the Holograms movie spread across the internet. Not since the first Sex and the City movie have so many women between the ages of 30 and 40 simultaneously squealed with excitement.
Justin Bieber's manager Scooter Braun, G.I. Joe: Retaliation director Jon M. Chu, and Paranormal Activity producer Jason Blum - no joke - broke the news via YouTube adding that the casting and other production elements would be crowdsourced. Fans were invited to share their talents, ideas, and Jem love using the hashtag #JemtheMovie. Millions answered the call and producers shared the posts on the official Jem the movie website.
Now that auditions are over and the actual production process will begin soon, we are ready to commence the fangirl (and boy) phase of movie anticipation. The part where we sit and reminisce on our favorite episodes, hunt for clips online, and mentally plan our outfits for the premier.
If you need a little refresher course on Jem, the Holograms, and the Misfits, here is a great primer via XOJane. Otherwise, enjoy our ode to our favorite music manager, turned rockstar, turned fashion icon, Jem.
