We're T-Minus 38 days until the 2016 TONY Awards (aka this writer's personal superbowl) and the Richard Rodgers theater is THE place to be right now. On May 3, 2016 Hamilton: An American Musical broke the record for most TONY nominations, like, ever. The record was previously held by two shows, The Producers with 15 TONY noms in 2001 and Billy Elliot also with 15 in 2009. Guess that's what happens when you're the ten dollar founding father without a father. Like Alexander Hamilton, Lin Manuel Miranda is going a lot farther by working a lot harder. Did we mention not one, not two, but THREE of Hamilton's nods are for Miranda alone? It's because, according to the Fun Home kids, "don't just wait around for someone to write a part for you."
Because we're total TONY psychics at Keep we called this record breaker a few weeks ago (no seriously we have the texts to prove it and we'll share screenshots too) and began cooking up something you do NOT want to miss. It's a totally guarded secret for now, but check back on TONY DAY (June 12, 2016) if you want in on the fun. While you wait, pick up the Hamiltome at Barnes & Noble or watch the cast perform the opening number for the Obamas and friends day and night like you're running out of time.
