Designer: Harry Allen Material: Resin and Marble Dimensions: 5 x 8.25 x 3 inches A thick, fibrous rope coiled and cast into a beautiful bowl. Designer Harry Allen has "sampled" from existing sources to create a series of products called REALITY. Wanting to push the boundaries of industrial design, Allen departs from the usual form-based design solutions thus offering consumers a new relationship/reality to the objects and furnishings around them. Taking objects and casting them in a new material is a practice borrowed from the art world. People are forced to re-consider that familiar object which has been cast, to look again with fresh eyes. With the detailed silicon molds and the polyester resin he cast and borrows from the world around us with precision. About the designer: Harry Allen was born in New Jersey in 1964.
