This rustic "country" nutcracker is made of Apple wood (body) and Mountain Laurel (handle). It will easily crack nuts of any size up to walnut-sized.
To crack a nut, drop it in the hole, and screw in the handle a couple turns until the nut breaks open. It's much easier, and less messy, than the traditional "pliers" type of cracker. You can dump out the bits of shell, instead of having them fly all over the room.
