Sunflower Socks

Vincent Van Gogh did many paintings of sunflowers, because they were a favorite flower of his close friend, the famous painter Paul Gauguin. Gauguin was coming to stay at Van Gogh's house to share an art studio, and Van Gogh painted a series of sunflower paintings with which to decorate Gauguin's rooms. Van Gogh was eager to use many of the shades of yellow pigment that had been recently created in that era.
